The Stat Line of the Night – 1/27/10 – Tim Duncan
Total Pro Sports- The Spurs are getting a bit older. Most people don’t consider them to be legitimate contenders for this season’s NBA championship. They had just lost three straight going into last night’s game. So what do they do? Come out and blow away the Atlanta Hawks, one of the better teams in the league.
Leading the charge was 2-time MVP and 11-time All-Star Tim Duncan. Duncan almost out-rebounded the entire Hawks team, pulling down a career-high 27 boards. An astounding 10 were off the Spurs’ own glass. Duncan had a bad night shooting the ball — from the field anyway. He shot just 5-20 on the night. But he got to the line 11 times and made all 11 attempts. He finished the night with 21 points, which was good enough to lead the Spurs.
Knowing that his shot wasn’t falling much, Duncan played distributor. He handed out 6 assists in the game and also added a blocked shot. A pretty amazing game at a time when the Spurs badly needed a victory. Don’t sleep on Duncan or the Spurs just yet. For his performance, Tim Duncan earns The Stat Line of the Night for 1/27/10.
