The Stat Line of the Night – 2/14/10 – Dwyane Wade

Dwyane WadeAll-Star Weekend was not all that entertaining this year, until the actual game.  The Rookie Challenge was alright, and the dunk contest fell on its face, but Dwyane Wade made the actual All-Star Game fun and relevant.  The East had a lot of great stars but Wade definitely won the night as well as the MVP.

The East had a strong lead and controlled the game for most of the night, but the West made a late push to make it close.  James, Wade, and Bosh locked it down however, leading the East to a 141-139 victory.  While LeBron had 25 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds and Bosh had 23 points and 10 rebounds, Wade’s line surpassed them all.  He scored 28 points on 12-16 shooting while snagging 6 rebounds, dishing 11 assists, and even getting 5 steals.  It felt like half of his baskets were dunks, probably because they were.  On top of that, with just 20 seconds remaining and the game tied up, Wade had a big steal from Deron Williams.  He was then fouled and nailed 2 crucial free throws with less than 20 seconds remaining.

The big questions swirling around the events of the weekend involved the possible work stoppage in 2011 and of course the big free agent frenzy coming up this summer.  No matter where Wade lands this summer (Chicago?), he proved last night why everyone is trying so hard to get him.  Because of that, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night”.
