The Stat Line of the Night – 3/28/10 – Amare Stoudemire
When Amare Stoudemire is focused, he is an unstoppable force in the NBA. He’s proven it many times before and he proved it again yesterday against the lowly Timberwolves. Minnesota tried to battle back in the second half, but they were overwhelmed by Phoenix’s power at the forward position.
Amare Stoudemire scored 30 points on 11-19 shooting. His variety of dunks, lay-ups, and jumpers was too much for the Wolves to handle. He also got to the line 9 times, hitting on 8 of those attempts. Some people argue that you can tell when Amare isn’t trying when his rebounding numbers dip below double digits. I guess that wasn’t a problem yesterday, as he notched 17 rebounds in the victory. Toss 3 assists and a block in there and you’ve got yourself one of his better nights of the season.
The Phoenix Suns, who have won 8 of their last 10 games, are rolling into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams in the NBA. With Steve Nash handing out the assists, a variety of solid role players, and Amare playing like a beast under the basket, the Suns look to be well-positioned to make a solid run in the playoffs. Amare can dominate on any given night, and yesterday he rolled to another “Stat Line of the Night”.
