Cheating Coach Caught On Camera (Pic)
There was nothing standing between Western safety Jessica Lucarelli and a touchdown, as she intercepted a pass from the Stranahan quarterback and raced towards the end zone during a scoreless high school flag football game. She thought she was about to break the tie and send her team into the District 22 title game, but Stranahan coach Bennett Wyche had other plans.
With defeat staring last season’s Sun Sentinel Coach of the Year in the face, he did the only thing he thought he could do; reach out and pull Jessica’s flag. Unfortunately, his actions could not escape the eyes of the referee, or the lens of this spectators camera.
The referee immediately issued an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to Wyche, and credited the Western Wildcats with a touchdown. They would go on to win the game by a score of 6-0, but Jessica was still not impressed.
“I saw the coach out of the corner of my eye,” Lucarelli said. “I was shocked. You definitely don’t expect something like that to happen. I was upset. He took away my glory and was teaching a horrible example to his players. What does it prove?” [SunSentinel]
I think we all know the answer to that question.
“Bill Belichick proved that in America it is okay to cheat, as long as you cheat your way to the top.” (Eric Cartman)
