Paul Daley Delivers Post-Fight Cheap Shot to Face Of Josh Koscheck
Heading into their co-main event at UFC 133, there was no shortage of bad blood between welterweights Josh Koscheck and Paul Daley. With the two engaging in a war of words heading into their much anticipated bout, not even 15 minutes of fighting was enough to settle their differences.
At least not for Daley.
With the final bell having sounded, and the fight clearly over, Daley had one last message for Koscheck, and it came in the form of a left fist to the face. Koscheck had been trash talking in Daley’s ear during the final seconds of their bout, and that did not sit too well with the heavy-fisted Englishman, causing him to throw one last punch at his opponent several seconds after the fight had ended.
As a result of his actions, Daley was released from the UFC by president Dana White, who had to say this about the post-fight incident.
“It was probably one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen because he is a talented guy and he is one of the best 170-pounders in the world.” [TSN.ca]
Perhaps Daley should have taken a page from the book of Matt Baker, and delivered his sucker punch at the beginning of the fight, rather than after the conclusion of it. Had he done so, he very likely would have been a winner with a job. Instead, now he will have to settle for being an unemployed loser.
