Stay Classy Habs Fans (Pics/Video)
It seems as though ever time the Habs are taking part in a crucial game, the services of the city’s police are required to keep things under control for the post-game reaction, whether the team wins or loses. The Montreal faithful have a long history of destructive behavior, and so the scene last night in the downtown core shouldn’t be viewed as anything out of the ordinary.
Having already eliminated the first place Washington Capitals in round one, not many people were giving the Montreal Canadiens much of a chance in their second round match-up with the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins. So when Les Habitants successfully did what few thought they were capable of, it was clearly time to celebrate and dance through the streets.
Unfortunately for some, the celebratory festivities also included fires, vandalism, looting and tear gas from riot police. You would think that everyone in the city of Montreal would be rooting for Le Bleu-Blanc-et-Rouge, but something tells me that at this point the last thing store owners in the area want to see is a Stanley Cup victory.
