The Stat Line of the Night – 5/19/10 – Pau Gasol
Pau Gasol was like Visa in last night’s Lakers vs. Suns game: everywhere you want to be. Gasol was money all night long, but he turned it up a notch during the 4th quarter.
The Suns and Lakers were tied at 90 going into the final quarter. That’s when Gasol took over. He scored 14 of his game-high 29 points in the 4th and the Lakers beat Phoenix 124-112 giving them a 2-0 lead in the series.
Gasol led all players in minutes and plus/minus. He shot 11-19 from the field and got to the free throw line 10 times. He pulled down 9 boards, handed out 5 assists, blocked 2 shots and had a steal. Not a bad night’s work for the 7-foot Spaniard.
The Suns might want to reconsider double-teaming Kobe because Gasol is killing them when Kobe feeds him off the double. It may just be a case of who the Suns want holding the dagger when they get stabbed. Either way, it looks like the Lakers are going back to the finals, and Pau Gasol has The Stat Line of the Night for 5/19/10.
