The Stat Line of the Night – 6/3/10 – Kobe Bryant
The rumors of a decline in Kobe Bryant’s play were not just over exaggerated…they were stupid. The 2010 Kobe plays smarter, not necessarily harder. But when Kobe so desires, he can still take it to the rack with the best of them and score the ball. He did that last night in game 1 of the 2010 NBA Finals, as the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Boston Celtics 102-89.
Kobe went to work early and often on both sides of the court. He soared high above the rim to block a Tony Allen lay-up attempt and played suffocating defense all night. And of course, Kobe got his points. He scored a game-high 30 points and got to the line 10 times, sinking 9 of them. He also handed out 6 assists, pulled down 7 rebounds, and had a steal that he took coast to coast for a crowd-igniting jam.
The Celtics better find a way to chill Kobe out or they will be headed home for the summer in a hurry. Kobe Bryant has The Stat Line of the Night for 6/3/10.
