The Stat Line of the Night – 7/15/10 – Tommy Hunter

tommy hunterQuick — name the first place team in the American League West. Did you guess Texas Rangers? Good for you. Can you name the pitcher on their club that is now 6-0 after beating the Boston Red Sox last night? Did you say Tommy Hunter? Liar.

Hunter made it into the 7th inning last night giving up just 2 solo homers as the Rangers beat the Red Sox 7-2 and maintained their 4.5 game lead in the AL West. Hunter allowed just 5 hits and lowered his ERA to 2.39. The 24-year old right-hander has been spectacular since being called up from the minors on June 5th. In his first game he threw a complete game. And he’s been lights out ever since then.

Could the Rangers really win the AL West? They have an all-star shortstop in Elvis Andrus, 2 big time sluggers in Vlad Guerrero and Josh Hamilton, 2 solid hitters in Ian Kinsler and Michael Young and newcomers Cliff Lee and Bengie Molina. And the 6-0 Tommy Hunter. He has The Stat Line of the Night for 7/15/10.
