The Stat Line of the Night – 8/18/10 – Joe Mauer

joe mauerJoe Mauer may not be dominating like he did last year in his MVP season, but he’s still having a tremendous year for the first place Minnesota Twins. Last night he helped his ballclub increase their lead over the flailing White Sox.

Mauer gave Gavin Floyd and the rest of the Sox pitchers fits. He jacked 4 hits in 5 at-bats, scoring twice and driving in 2 with a homer, a double and two base hits. His average jumped up to .335, and he’s now 3rd in the American League in batting average. He got the Twins on the board first in the first when his double scored Denard Span. He then homered in the fifth and the Twins won 7-6.

The Twins won their sixth game in a row, improved to 70-50 on the season and increased their lead over the White Sox to 5 games. Mauer has absolutely killed the Sox all season to the tune of a 1.253 OPS. He has The Stat Line of the Night for 8/18/10.
