The Stat Line of the Night – 10/20/10 – Buster Posey

buster poseyRaise your hand if in March you had the San Francisco Giants representing the National League in the World Series. Didn’t think so. Yet, here they are, now just one more victory away from making it back to the big dance. And they wouldn’t be anywhere close without Buster Posey.

The 23-year-old catcher has provided a big bat for the Giants all season, and he was at it again last night. Posey went 4-5 in the game with 2 RBIs. Posey had an RBI double in the first and RBI single in the third inning. Most impressive is that they both came with two outs. He is hitting .344 in his first postseason with an on-base percentage of .400.

Posey rocked it on defense too. He made a brilliant play at the plate to save a run when he handled a bad throw home and was still able to tag Carlos Ruiz out at the plate. That could have been the difference in the game. Buster Posey has “The Stat Line of the Night” for 10/20/10.
