The Stat Line of the Night — 10/25/10 — Eli Manning

eli manningThis game was considered a last gasp for Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys, but Eli Manning and the Giants suffocating pass rush instead choked the life out of the Cowboys’ season.  Both quarterbacks had opposite games.  While Romo was scrambling for his life and then getting viciously injured on a sack, Eli was settling down from a slow start to bring his Giants charging past the Cowboys 41-35.

Eli Manning opened up the game with 2 interceptions and before anyone had time to blink, the Cowboys were up 20-7.  That’s when Eli began to have his way.  He would throw 4 touchdown passes in the 2nd and 3rd quarters alone and with the help of a swarming Giant defense, he moved his team to 5-2 and a strong lead in the division.  Eli went 25/35 for 305 yards.  He threw 4 touchdowns and was intercepted 3 times.  His quarterback rating was a sterling 100.4.  He had some help from the running game too, with Ahmad Bradshaw rushing 24 times for 126 yards and Brandon Jacobs going 12 times for 75 yards and a touchdown.

The Giants season has taken off after a slow 1-2 start.  While the defensive line has been credited with the turnaround (they have knocked out 5 quarterbacks now!), Eli is quietly putting together a very good season.  With the NFC as weak as it is, the Giants may have their eyes on a bigger prize this year, but for now Eli will have to settle for “The Stat Line of the Night”.
