The Stat Line of the Night – 12/1/10 – Russell Westbrook
The Oklahoma City Thunder went east to take on the New Jersey Nets last night, and they were without superstar Kevin Durant. That made things a little more difficult for the Thunder..Like three-times more difficult.
The Thunder and Nets battled it out into triple-overtime before the Thunder prevailed 123-120. Russell Westbrook was everywhere on this night, scoring a game-high 38 points and adding 15 rebounds, 5 of them off the offensive boards. One of those turned into a rim-shaking, one-handed put back jam off a Serge Ibaka missed shot. Westbrook also had 9 assists and 3 steals. He was just one assist shy of the elusive triple-double. But what he did in the third overtime may be even more impressive than his near-triple-double.
Westbrook scored all 13 Thunder points in the last overtime to finally close the door on the Nets and give the Thunder the win. It’s a solid road win for the 13-6 Thunder, especially considering Durant was on the bench all night. Westbrook stepped up his game big time, and he has “The Stat Line of the Night” for 12/1/10.
