The Stat Line Of The Night – 12/16/10 – Vincent Jackson

With Malcom Floyd and Antonio Gates both inactive, many people may have been asking themselves, “Who will Philip Rivers pass the ball to now?”  Anyone who did find themselves asking that very question likely forgot that they still do have one of the top receivers in the NFL in their line-up.  After sitting out the first eleven weeks of the season due to suspension and contract issues, then suffering through injuries in his first couple of games back, Vincent Jackson finally appears to be back to his old Pro Bowl self.

Jackson served as Rivers’ prime target last night during the San Diego Chargers’ game against the San Francsico 49ers, and he delivered to the tune of five receptions for 112 yards and three touchdowns.  He got things started early, recording a 58-yard touchdown on the fourth play from scrimmage.  He and his Charger teammates did not look back from there as Rivers and Jackson would hook up for two more scores of 11 and 21 yards on route to a dominating 34-7 victory.

After a terrible start to the season the Chargers now find themselves with a great shot at winning the AFC West and making the playoffs.  And with Philip Rivers passing the ball like he has been, and possibly having the services of Jackson, Gates and Floyd all at his disposal, the San Diego Chargers are one team that could make some noise in January.  For now, Vincent Jackson earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, December 16, 2010.
