The Stat Line Of The Night – 12/19/10 – Michael Vick

Let this be a lesson to all teams in the National Football League:  Never count out the Philadelphia Eagles because as long as they have Michael Vick in their line-up, anything is possible.  Even coming back from a 31-10 fourth quarter deficit, as he and his teammates proved yesterday afternoon during their game against the New York Giants at the New Meadowlands Stadium.

Some have already begun to call this “the Miracle at the Meadowlands, part two”, and although it was DeSean Jackson’s 65-yard punt return with no time remaining on the clock that most people will remember, it was Vick’s performance up to that point which gave the Eagles a chance at the comeback in the first place.

After struggling through the first quarter and failing to record a touchdown, Vick and the Eagles offense got hot.  It all started with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Vick to Jeremy Maclin in the third quarter.  That score was followed up by another Giants touchdown in the fourth quarter to put the Eagles down by 21, but Vick was far from done as he recorded passing touchdowns to Brent Celek and another to Maclin, as well as a rushing touchdown to tie things up at 31-31.  He would finish the game completing 21-of-35 passes for 242 yards, three touchdowns and one interception through the air, while adding 130 yards and one touchdown on the ground.  Jackson may be making most of the headlines for his walk-off punt return touchdown, but “The Stat Line of the Night” belongs to Michael Vick.
