The Stat Line Of The Night – 12/23/10 – Ronnie Hillman

Qualcomm Stadium was flooded with 1.5 gallons of rainwater prior to Thursday night’s Poinsettia Bowl, but not even the wet conditions were enough to slow down San Diego State’s Ronnie Hillman.  In fact,  it appeared as though not even a tsunami could have stopped the freshman running back from running all over the Navy Midshipmen on this occasion.

Hillman set an new Poinsettia Bowl rushing record, recording a total of 228 yards and three touchdowns on the ground to go with another 16 yards and a touchdown through the air.  his four touchdown performance led the charge for the Aztecs, who recorded their first bowl victory since 1969 by routing Navy, 35-14.

Hillman’s strong performance last night capped off a remarkable year for the freshman, which saw him accumulate a total of 1,532 yards and 17 touchdowns on 262 rushing attempts.  Not bad for a rookie, and you can expect him to get plenty of attention from NFL scouts next season, but for now he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, December 23, 2010.
