The Stat Line Of The Night – 12/27/10 – Michael Beasley

After being drafted second overall in the 2008 NBA draft, Michael Beasley had a tough time living up to expectations during his first two years in the league with the Miami Heat.  However, the Heat’s signing of “the big three” left them with no choice but to deal Beasley away to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and things couldn’t have worked out better for the forward from Kansas State.

After averaging 13.9 and 14.8 in his first two years as a pro, respectively, Beasley’ has adapted well to his new environment and is currently averaging and impressive 21.9 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.  Last night he surpassed both of those totals, racking up 30 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists during a 113-98 win over the New Orleans Hornets.

It was quite the impressive win for the Timberwolves, who had only been able to put together 7 wins in their previous 31 contests, but with the likes of Beasley and Kevin Love leading the charge, the future may be bright for this young team after all.  He may have to do some waiting before getting a shot at the post season (and perhaps even a championship), but for now Beasley earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, December 27, 2010.
