The Stat Line Of The Night – 1/2/11 – DeMarcus Ware
Last night’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles may not have meant much to most of the players on the field, with the Eagles already clinching third spot in the NFC and the Cowboys out of the playoffs, but it certainly appeared to mean the world to Dallas linebacker DeMarcus Ware.
I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Eagles quarterback Kevin Kolb had nightmares of Ware last night as he was terrorized by the six-year veteran out of Troy all afternoon long. When it was all said and done, Ware was not only the Cowboys best defensive player, but he was also their best offensive player, recording four tackles, three sacks and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.
In addition to helping Dallas close out the season with a 14-13 victory over their division rivals, Ware’s performance also helped him take home the sack title for the second time in his career. His third sack of the game, which came on the Eagles final drive, was enough to give him one more than Kansas City’s Tamba Hali and 1.5 more than Miami’s Cameron Wake. It was also enough to earn him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, January 2, 2011.
