Steven Stamkos Gives Us Hockey’s Worst Penalty Shot FAIL Ever! (Video)
When New Jersey Devils forward Ilya Kovalchuk whiffed on a shot during a shootout earlier in the season, many of us thought to ourselves, “How can a superstar of his caliber fail so miserably during a one-on-one with the goalie?” Seemingly attempting to answer that question, Steven Stamkos stepped up to the forefront last night during a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins and delivered what may very well be the worst penalty shot attempt in the history of the game.
We can at least give Kovalchuk credit for making it all the way to the hash marks before watching the puck roll off his stick and into the corner of the rink. As for Stamkos, he didn’t even make it to the high slot before blowing a tire and sliding all the way into the Penguins goal.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise to hear that the Lightning were trailing 5-0 at that point, and would eventually go on to lose the game by a score of 8-1. I guess this clip pretty much sums up the night that was for Stamkos and his Lightning teammates.
