Ed Reed Gets Emotional During Post-Game Speech (Video)
It has been an emotional weekend for Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed. Two days before he and his teammates were set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs during the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs, reports surfaced that his brother had gone missing after jumping into the Mississippi River.
Brian Reed, the 29-year-old brother of Ed, had been confronted by a deputy sheriff in Louisiana in response to reports of a stolen car. According to Ed’s mother, Karen Reed, the car belonged to another brother, but that didn’t stop Brian from fleeing as he ditched his shoes and jacket before jumping into the river.
Despite concerns regarding his brother’s whereabouts, Reed joined his teammates on the field for yesterday’s game and played with the same focus that has made him one of the league’s best defensive backs. His teammates recognized that and awarded Reed with the game ball, sparking this emotional post-game speech from the seven-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer.
