This Is FIFA’s Goal Of The Year (Video)
It was a busy 2010 in the world of soccer and last night FIFA honored several of the year’s top coaches, teams and players during their annual award ceremony. And while it wasn’t much of a surprise to see Argentine forward Lionel Messi win the world’s best player award, and former Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho win the best men’s coach award, some may have been shocked at who the Federation chose for the Puskas Award, which is given to the player who scores the year’s most beautiful goal.
While my vote would have likely gone to either Giovanni Van Bronckhorst for his World Cup Goal against Uruguay or Samir Nasri for his UEFA Champions League goal against Porto, the millions of fans who voted online decided that Hamit Altintop’s volley for Turkey against Kazakhstan during a 2012 European Championship qualifying match was the most deserving of the award.
For those who haven’t seen it, here is a look at 2010’s goal of the year. Would you agree?
