The Stat Line Of The Night — 1/17/11 — Blake Griffin

Make no mistake about it.  Blake Griffin is much more than just a highlight reel dunk machine.  He proved that yesterday afternoon during a game against the Indiana Pacers.  The game plan to stop Griffin was quite obvious: Keep the man from dominating the paint and force him to shoot shots from the perimeter.  Unfortunately for the Pacers, that game plan completely backfired on them.

Griffin simply couldn’t miss a shot, hitting everything from baseline jumpers to bank shots from the post.  It was an incredible shooting performance that saw the NBA’s top rookie go 19-of-24 from the field for 47 points, which set a new league high for the 2010-11 season.  He also added 14 rebounds, 3 assists and a blocked shot as his Clippers continued their strong run, beating the Pacers by a score of 114-107.

With the win, the Clippers have now won five of their last six games and are beginning to look like a team with a young crop of players that could turn out to be quite the force in the NBA.  Right now they find themselves six games out of the playoffs, but the future looks bright as they are winning games and their superstar rookie is winning “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, January 17, 2011.
