The Stat Line Of The Night – 1/20/11 – Derrick Rose
Three nights after posting his first career triple-double, Derrick Rose was looking to record his second. Unfortunately, the Bulls’ All-Star guard would fall short of doing so, but his solid performance across the board was a key factor in Chicago’s 82-77 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
Rose was the only Bull in double figures as he led the offensive charge with a game-high 26 points. He also had a game-high in assists, with nine, and added seven rebounds and two blocks in what was a solid effort from one of the game’s best players. Rose’s shooting percentage may not have been as high as he would have liked (9 of 28, 32%), but his 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line and the victory in the end will easily make up for a few extra missed field-goals.
With most people fixated on the battle between the Boston Celtics and the Miami Heat at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, few have noticed the Chicago Bulls sitting in third and lurking just four games back of first place. Much of that has to do with the play of Derrick Rose, who earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, January 21, 2011.
