How many of you degenerate gamblers placed money on how Christina Aguilera would wear her hair while singing “The Star-Spangled Banner”? Or whether she would be wearing pants, a skirt or a dress? There was no debating the outcomes of those proposition bets as the pop-singing sensation came out in her black skirt and straight hair; however, there may be some debating whether her rendition of the American national anthem went over or under the total time of 1 minute 54 seconds, thanks to a minor miscue in the middle of her performance.
While singing the fourth line of the anthem, which is supposed to be “O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming,” Aguilera reverted back to the second line, with a minor twist, singing “What so proudly we watched (?) at the twilight’s last gleaming.”
The error may have gone undetected by some, but not all. At about the 1:00 mark you can see a puzzled Matt Wilhelm question teammate Brandon Jackson regarding Aguilera’s “Star-Spangled Banner” remix. I guess nothing was getting by the Packers last night. Not the Pittsburgh Steelers, and certainly not an error during the anthem.
As for those who bet on the national anthem’s over/under, everyone who picked the over may want to call for an inquiry due to the error, but we should note that despite the mistake by Aguilera, no lines we missed. The gambling community can sleep easy once again…unless, of course, they were among the many who bet on the Steelers and the under.
