The Stat Line Of The Night — 3/3/11 — Pekka Rinne

With the battle for playoff spots in the Western Conference heating up down the stretch, several teams currently find themselves fighting for the final five spots in what has become one of the closest playoff races the NHL has seen in a while.  With every point being so important, perfection has become a must for some teams, including the Nashville Predators.

They were in Vancouver last night to take on the first-place Canucks, and needless to say, winning in Rogers Arena has not been an easy task for visiting teams this season.  However, the Predators were able to accomplish such a feat, thanks to a prefect game between the pipes from goaltender Pekka Rinne.

Rinne stopped all 29 shots he faced, en route to the 3-0 victory.  It was the fifth shutout of the season for the Predators goaltender, whose tremendous effort in goal helped his team move into seventh place in the Western Conference standings, and it also earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, March 3, 2011.
