The Stat Line Of The Night — 3/9/11 — Kevin Love

We’ll start things out by giving an honorable mention to Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma City Thunder, who put up 34 points and 16 rebounds in a 110-105 win over the Philadelphia 76ers.  More often than not, that would be enough to earn him our “Stat Line of the Night”, but not this time, as Wednesday night belonged to Kevin Love of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Heading into last night’s game against the Pacers, Love had recorded 51 straight double-doubles, good enough to tie him with Moses Malone for the longest streak since the NBA/ABA merger in 1976.  He would pass the Hall of Famer with a 16 point, 21 rebound performance during a 101-75 home victory over Indiana.

Love wasted little time accomplishing the feat, reaching double-figures in both points and rebounds with just under seven minutes to play in the first half.  Dealing with a bruised left knee, Love would only play 27 minutes, but that was all he needed to earn the record, the victory, and our “Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, March 9, 2011.
