As far as failed hockey celebrations go, this has to be among the best of them.
I couldn’t tell you the names of the players or teams involved here, but judging by their failed celebration, it doesn’t appear as though they have won many championships prior to this one.
However, a part of me can’t help but feel as though things worked out for the best in this situation. After all, this celebration could have turned into a rather painful one had superman connected on his attempted tackle. We’ll opt for the bruised self-esteem over the broken neck.
***Update: A YouTube video of the celebration indicates that it occurred a few days ago, following an overtime goal by Dinamo Riga’s Lauris Darzins during game six of their KHL first round playoff series against Dynamo Moscow. The goal not only won Dinamo Riga the game, but it also helped them win the series, 4-2, and advance to the second round of the playoffs. As for the diver, we have not yet been able to identify him.
