The Stat Line Of The Night — 3/13/11 — Dwight Howard

With the Miami Heat struggling, the Orlando Magic had the opportunity to move up in the standings, but they haven’t been doing themselves any favors, losing three of their last four heading into yesterday’s game against the Phoenix Suns.  Looking to avoid losing back-to-back games for the second time this month, the Magic needed to take advantage of a Suns team that was playing without two key members in Steve Nash and Channing Frye.  They would do just that, thanks to a stellar performance from Dwight Howard.

Superman was pretty super Sunday afternoon, as he put up 26 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks (all game highs) to lead the Magic to a convincing 111-88 victory over the Suns.  Whether it was Robin Lopez lining up against him, or former teammate Marcin Gortat, Howard seemed unstoppable as he controlled the paint all afternoon.

In addition to his team earning the victory, Howard also celebrated a milestone as he reached the 10,000 point-plateau.  If he continues to put up numbers like he did today, it wont be long before he is celebrating his next milestone, but for now he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, March 13, 2011.
