JaVale McGee’s Triple-Double Is Among The Worst In History (Video)
His 12 rebounds were impressive and his 12 blocks were incredible, but it was the manner in which the Washington Wizards’ JaVale McGee recorded his 11 points that makes his triple-double last night against the Chicago Bulls among the worst ever.
With 3:43 left in the game, McGee had already recorded double-figures in rebounds and blocks, but his eight points left him two shy of the coveted triple-double. At the line to shoot two free-throws, he had the opportunity to accomplish the feat right then and there, but couldn’t capitalize as he missed the second attempt.
That miss would result in the most embarrassing 3 minutes and 43 seconds of basketball that I had ever watched. Just one point shy of the triple-double, the Wizards gave the ball to McGee possession after possession, only to watch him turn the ball over time and time again. After several attempts, McGee was finally able to slam the ball home with 18 seconds remaining in the game and his team trailing by 18 points.
If that wasn’t sad enough, McGee earned a technical foul for hanging on the rim following the dunk. I guess you could say it was the perfect way to cap off such a pathetic triple-double performance.
