Referee Delivers Headshot To Leafs’ Joffrey Lupul (Video)
A top priority on the NHL’s “to do” list is to rid the game of headshots. They have attempted to do so thus far by handing out some rather stiff suspensions for any act that they feel was directed at the head of a member of the opposition. Among those who have been penalized by the league for headshots are the Coyotes’ Shane Doan, the Sharks’ Joe Thonrton and Dany Heatley and the Lightning’s Pavel Kubina, to name a few.
Perhaps referee Francois St. Laurent should be added to that list following his elbow to the head of the Leafs’ Joffrey Lupul during last night’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes.
Here is a look at the video. Do you think this is worthy of earning St. Laurent the first ever headshot suspension for an official?
