The Stat Line Of The Night — 3/23/11 — Blake Griffin
Fans at the Staples Center last night were treated to a battle between two of the NBA’s worst teams as the Los Angeles Clippers hosted the Washington Wizards, however, the match-up did provide them with a look at two of the NBA’s top rookies. “John Wall versus Blake Griffin” would be the headline of this game, and while Wall had an impressive performance of his own, notching 32 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds, he would eventually be outdone by the 2009 first-overall pick.
It was a milestone night for Griffin, as the Clippers power forward recorded 33 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists for his first career triple-double. The Blake-show also added a steal and a block, as he led the way during the Clippers 127-119 double-overtime victory.
It is no secret that the Clippers have something special in Blake Griffin. While he hasn’t been able to win them enough games to remain in playoff contention this season, he has been able to put butts in the seats, which isn’t an easy task when your team is 28-44 and has to compete with the Lakers. He showed us once again last night why he has turned the Clippers into a hot ticket, and in doing so he earned himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, March 23, 2011.
