Chris Conner’s Penalty Shot Was Awfully Embarrassing (Video)
With his Penguins trailing by a single goal midway through the second period of Game 6 last night against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Chris Conner found himself with the puck on his stick and no one between himself and Lightning goaltender Dwayne Roloson. Unfortunately for him, that puck wouldn’t stay on his stick for quite as long as he had hoped.
Conner was awarded a penalty shot after being tripped up on a breakaway, but he couldn’t do anything with it, as the puck rolled off his stick before he could even make a move. It was an embarrassing display that left Conner in disbelief on the bench, and his team trailing by one.
The Pens would eventually tie the game in the third, but that lead would not last long, as the Lightning scored two unanswered goals to take Game 6 by a score of 4-2.
Much like Conner blew his penalty shot attempt, the Pens appear to be on the verge of blowing their best-of-seven first round series with the Lightning, losing their last two games after leading the series 3-1. It will now come down to a final do-or-die Game 7 at the Consol Energy Center on Wednesday, and the Pens can only hope that their fate does not come down to another Chris Conner penalty shot.
Here is a look at his attempt from last night.
