The Stat Line Of The Night — 6/6/11 — Brennan Boesch

Two of the hottest teams in the Majors hooked up last night in Texas as the Rangers hosted the streaking Detroit Tigers.  With the Cleveland Indians slumping as of late, the Tigers have managed to climb right back into the hunt for top spot in the AL Central, and they gained some more ground last night, thanks to the offensive display put forth by Brennan Boesch.

In a game where the Rangers were scoring plenty, the Tigers managed to score plenty more, and it was Boesch leading the charge.  The 26-year-old outfielder went 5-for-6 at the plate, with two home runs and five RBIs on the night.  He got things started early with a three-run homer in the first inning and the Tigers never looked back from there, en route to the 13-7 victory.

With the win, Detroit has now won seven of their last eight games, as they find themselves only 1.5 games back of the AL Central-leading Indians.  As for Boesch, he continues to improve his numbers at the plate in only his second season in the Majors.  Last night’s performance will certainly help that cause, and it also earns him the “Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, June 6, 2011.
