The Stat Line Of The Night — 6/7/11 — Carlos Carrasco

Much of the Cleveland Indians success this season has been the result of some great offense, but with their bats quieting down during a five-game losing streak, it was the pitching of starter Carlos Carassco that helped them break out of their recent slump.

Carassco was dominant during last night’s game against the Minnesota Twins, as he pitched 8.1 innings of shutout ball, allowing only three hits and one walk while striking out six.  It was the type of performance the Indians needed, as they managed to score only one run, but that one run was enough for them to come away with the 1-0 victory.

In addition to snapping their five-game losing streak, the win also helped the Indians maintain their 1.5-game lead on the Detroit Tigers for top spot in the AL Central.  Carassco has now won four of his last five starts, but last night’s performance was easily his best of the season.  It was also good enough to earn him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, June 7, 2011.
