Marlins Catcher Hits Shane Victorino In The Head With A Throw At Point Blank Range (Video)
Major League batters may often be concerned about getting hit in the head by a ball being thrown from the pitcher to the catcher, but few of them ever think about taking a shot in the head when the ball is moving in the opposite direction. The Philadelphia Phillies’ Shane Victorino certainly didn’t expect to be on the receiving end of toss from Marlins catcher Brett Hayes, which was intended for pitcher pitcher Elih Villanueva, but he was in the opening inning of Wednesday’s first game of a double-header at Citizens Bank Park.
Victorino was shaken, but not hurt on the play. We would go on to double and score on a Ryan Howard double two at bats later, as the Phillies went on to win by a score of 8-1. Here is another look at the incident.
