Ozzie Guillen Gets Ejected, Kicks Geovany Soto’s Mask (Video)
With only one ejection through two and a half months thus far this season, one could classify this as a fairly calm season for White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, by his standards. With that being said, we all knew it was only a matter of time before Guillen experienced another one of his mid-game blow-ups, and that time came last night when the Cubs visited U.S. Cellular Field to take on the White Sox.
After watching Alexei Ramirez get tagged out by Cubs’ catcher Geovany Soto on a hit that both he and Ramirez believed to be a foul ball, Guillen rushed out to argue the call, only to be tossed immediately by home plate umpire James Hoye. Already angered by the blown call (which upon review actually turned out to be the correct call), the ensuing ejection was enough to make Guillen want to kick something. That something would turn out to be Soto’s catcher’s mask.
And how did Soto feel about having his mask treated like a soccer ball by the White Sox’s bench boss? Judging by the smile on his face I’d say he enjoyed it as much as the rest of us. Here is another look at the incident.
