The Stat Line Of The Night — 6/29/11 — Angel Pagan

After launching two grand slams and scoring 14 runs in a route of the Detroit Tigers one night earlier, the New York Mets were looking for an equally impressive encore performance last night, and they got just that.

The Mets’ bats were on fire once again, as they surpassed Tuesday’s total with an incredible 20-hit, 16-run performance against the Tigers last night, en route to the 16-9 victory.  But with the the top five batters in the Mets line-up recording only two RBIs between them, it was the bottom of the order doing most of the damage, led by center fielder Angel Pagan.

After recording only seven hits and one RBI in his previous nine games, Pagan turned things around in a big way, going 4-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and four RBIs.  It was easily his most productive game of the season, improving his batting average by .013 points and earning him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, June 29, 2011.
