The Stat Line Of The Night — 7/4/11 — Brian Duensing

If I told you that one of the starting pitchers from yesterday’s game between the Minnesota Twins and the Tampa Bay Rays struck out seven batters and allowed only six hits during a complete-game shutout victory, you would probably assume we were talking about Rays starter David Price.  However, Price would allow four earned runs over the course of six innings.  Instead, it was Twins starter Brian Duensing going the distance and earning the victory on this day.

Duensing stifled the Rays batters throughout the entire afternoon and the Twins bats did the rest, en route to the 7-0 victory.  With the win, the Twins have now won five of their last six games after snapping a six-game losing streak last Tuesday.  As for Duensing, he improves his record to 6-7 on the season with wins in three of his last four starts.  He also earns the “Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, July 4, 2011.
