The Stat Line Of The Night — 7/6/11 — Nate Schierholtz

After losing the first two games of their four-game series against the San Diego Padres, the San Francisco Giants were in danger of being swept by their division rivals.  Despite trailing late in the game, they were able to avoid that fate, thanks to some extra-inning heroics from Nate Schierholtz.

The Giants right fielder entered last night’s game with only four home runs on the season, but he upped that total in a big way with the first multi-homer run game of his Major League career.  Schierholtz’s first home run came in the fourth inning with one runner on and two outs.  It would help bring the Giants to within one run of the Padres, and after Pablo Sandoval tied the game in the eighth inning, Schierholtz ended it in the 14th with a walkoff solo home run.

Schierholtz finished his solid night at the plate going 3-for-6 with two home runs and three RBIs.  That was good enough to give the Giants the 6-5 victory and earn himself the “Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, July 6, 2011.
