The Stat Line Of The Night — 8/3/11 — Casey McGehee

Casey McGehee entered yesterday afternoon’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals with only five home runs on the season.  He nearly doubled that total with a monstrous day at the plate, as he joined an elite list of players who have hit three home runs in a single game this season.

The Brewers’ third baseman ended the day going 3-for-4 at the plate.  All three of those at bats resulted in home runs, and they each came off the Cards’ newly acquired starting pitcher, Edwin Jackson.  When it was all said and done, McGehee would cash in five runs, and those five runs were the difference in the Brewers’ 10-5 victory over St. Louis.

In addition to recording the victory, Milwaukee also moved 3.5 games up on St. Louis for first place in the NL Central.  They have McGehee to thank, as he earns our “Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, August 3, 2011.
