The Stat Line Of The Night — 8/14/11 — Brandon Belt

With the Arizona Diamondbacks currently in the midst of a six-game winning streak, the San Francisco Giants have suddenly found themselves on the outside of the playoff picture looking in.  They needed a win in Florida yesterday afternoon if they wanted to remain only two games out of top spot in the NL West, and they would get that win thanks in large part to the bat of Brandon Belt.

Belt hasn’t had many opportunities to assert himself in the Giants lineup this season, playing in only 31 games heading into Sunday, but he made the most of his 32nd game with two home runs in his four at bats.  Those home runs were Belt’s third and fourth of the season.  Unfortunately, both came with no runners on base, but his two RBIs were still enough to lead his Giants to the 5-2 victory over the Marlins, and earn himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, August 14, 2011.
