Stat Line Of The Night — 9/8/11 — Aaron Rodgers

And honorable mention should go out to Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver and return specialist, Randall Cobb, who tied an NFL record with his 108-yard kickoff return touchdown and also added a 32-yard touchdown reception.  However, it is hard for us not to give “Stat Line of the Night” honors to the man who was on the other end of his 32-yard touchdown reception, Aaron Rodgers.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP picked up right where he left off during yesterday’s season opener against the New Orleans Saints, completing 27 of his 35 passes for 312 touchdowns and three touchdowns.  The majority of his damage came in the opening quarter, as he completed 14 of his 15 passes for 188 yards and connected on all three of his touchdowns within the first 15 minutes.

By the time Rodgers connected on his third touchdown pass, the Packers found themselves up 21-7.  The Saints would make things close in the end, but Mark Ingram was stuffed on the goal line on the final play and the Packers escaped with the 42-32 victory.  As for Rodgers, he escapes with the “Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, September 8, 2011.
