Stat Line Of The Night — 9/13/11 — Dustin Pedroia

If you gave the Boston Red Sox batters a choice of which starting pitcher in the Majors they would like to face most, there is a good chance they would choose Brandon Morrow of the Toronto Blue Jays.  Going into last night’s game, Morrow was posting a 13.83 ERA in three games this season against Boston, and that ERA didn’t improve much following last night’s 18-6 Red Sox victory.

Leading the charge on offense for the Red Sox was second baseman Dusin Pedroia, who was an impressive 4-for-5 at the plate with two home runs, two doubles, and five RBIs.  Heading into the game Pedrioa had only recorded three hits in his last eight games, but both he and the Sox snapped out of their slump in a big way last night.  Their strong effort at the plate has helped them move four games up on the Tampa Bay Rays in the wild card race, and in Pedroia’s case, it has also earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, September 13, 2011.
