Bill Haas’ Shot From The Water Helped Him Win The Tour Championship (Video)
Bill Haas didn’t bring his galoshes with him to Atlanta for the PGA Tour Championship. He could have used them during the second hole of his playoff against Hunter Mahan.
After finding a fairway bunker with his first shot, Haas’ second shot landed along the edge of the water near the green on the 17th hole. But rather than taking the stroke penalty for landing his ball in the drink, Haas decided to get his shoes a little wet and play the ball as it layed in an attempt to live for another hole. Remarkably, he was able to land the ball only inches from the hole, saving par and eventually winning the tournament on the following playoff hole.
This incredible shot not only earned Haas $1.44 million as the tournament winner, but it also won him the FedEx Cup, and with it a $10 million bonus.
