The 2011 British Superbike Championship came down to the final race this past weekend, and what a race it was.
Heading into the third round of the Brands Hatch Grand Prix on Sunday, American John Hopkins found himself two points up on England’s Tommy Hill. The two of them would enter the final lap of the race, and the season, neck-and-neck in a battle for second place. Whoever finished in front would earn the 2011 British Superbike Championship, but it wouldn’t be easy, as both riders passed on another a total of six times during the final lap, before Hill crossed the finish line o.006 seconds ahead of Hopkins to earn the championship.
