Stat Line Of The Night — 11/29/11 — Cory Schneider

cory schneiderLadies and gentlemen, we officially have a goaltending controversy in Vancouver.

After getting off to a slow start this season, Canucks fans began to question whether or not their team could still win with Roberto Luongo in goal.  Many demanded that the coaching staff give back-up netminder Cory Schneider a chance, and when Luongo went down with an injury earlier this month, they all got their wish.  Six games later it is starting to look like the fans were right all along.

Schneider entered last night’s game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on a four-game winning streak, and he would earn his fifth win in a row by stopping 47 of the 48 shots directed his way.  After earning two shutouts in his last three games, Schneider would fall one save short of another perfect game, but his performance would help the Canucks earn the 4-1 victory, and it would also earn him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
