Watch Johnny Knox’s Back Bend Like A Pretzel (Video)
Unless you happen to be one of those incredibly flexible ballerinas, it is probably safe to say that the back of your head should never be able to touch the middle of your spine. Johnny Knox’s did, and the results were nearly disastrous.
Early in the first quarter of yesterday’s game between the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks, Knox fumbled the ball in the middle of the field. While diving to the ground in an attempt to recover it, he was hit by Seahawks defensive end Anthony Hargrove, causing his body to bend backwards in a very awkward manner.
Knox remained on the field for several minutes as the Bears’ training staff and medical personnel attended to him. He was eventually stretchered off the field and taken to a hospital, but not before giving the fans at Soldier Field a thumbs up. Reports indicate that Knox will undergo back surgery today to stabilize a vertebrae in his back. As you may have expected, he will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, but the long-term prognosis of the injury appears to be positive, as the incident isn’t expected to end his career.
Here is a look at the hit that caused Knox’s back to bend like a pretzel. If you are squeamish, you may want to think twice about watching this.
