Everton Keeper Tim Howard Scores From His Own Net (Video)
With the winds gusting at high speeds inside Goodison Park yesterday, Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard took advantage, as he launched a shot from his own box that would land a few meters in front of Bolton keeper Adam Bogdan, before bouncing over his head and into the back of the net.
It was only the fourth goal ever scored by a keeper in Premier League history, however, replays show that much of the credit should go to the wind, which helped the ball take a crazy bounce and completely fool Bogdan in the process. Oddly enough, while his entire team celebrated, Howard showed little emotion following his goal. According to him, it was a sign of respect for his opposing keeper:
“It’s not a nice place to be,” Howard said. “I’ve been there before — a long, long time ago — and that was why I didn’t celebrate.” [TSN.ca]
Unfortunately for Howard, he and his teammates weren’t able to enjoy the goal to its fullest extent, as Bolton answered with two goals of their own to give them the 2-1 victory. But that shouldn’t prevent you from enjoying Howard’s 100-yard goal.
Check it out.
