During the 2010 NFL Pre-Season, Victor Cruz Made Quite The Impression On Rex Ryan (Video)

rex ryan tom coughlinNew Your Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz made quite the impression one everyone during the 2011 NFL season, as he burst onto the scene with a monstrous week 3 performance against the Philadelphia Eagles and he never looked back from there, finishing the season with an incredible 82 receptions, 1,536 yards and nine touchdowns.  For many, it was the first they had seen of the 25-year-old UMass alum, but it certainly wasn’t the first time Cruz had made an impression on someone in the NFL.

Back in 2010, during week one of the pre-season, Cruz made his first mark on the NFL, as he lit up the Jets secondary for six receptions, 145 yards and three touchdowns.

At first, it seemed as though the Jets’ coaching staff couldn’t tell Cruz apart from a back-up quarterback, but that quickly changed after he burned them for his first touchdown of the game.  By the end of that game, Rex Ryan had become quite impressed with the Giants’ “number three.”  And after watching him put up another 164 yards and a touchdown during a week 16 match-up this season, we’re almost certain the Jets head coach now knows Cruz’s name, and not just his number.

You can watch Cruz make a great first impression on Ryan and the Jets’ defensive coaching staff in the video below.
