Frozen Fisticuffs Fight Of The Night — Two From Thursday’s Action — 2/23/12
There were only two fights in the NHL last night, but they were both great ones.
We’ll start in Toronto, where the Maple Leafs’ Mike Brown and the San Jose Sharks’ Jim Vandermeer went toe-to toe in a bout that saw both combatants throw a flurry of punches. And just when it seemed like the fight was over following Brown’s tumble to the ice, Vandermeer showed some great sportsmanship, as he allowed his opponent to safely get up before continuing their bout for a few more seconds.
Check it out.
Next we bring you a bout between two men that know each other quite well.
Jody Shelley of the Philadelphia Flyers and Darcy Hordichuk of the Edmonton Oilers had squared off a total of seven times entering last night’s game, so there was little doubt that these two combatants would get-it-on once again during their latest meeting. The only question was when would it happen, and the answer came just over eight minutes into the first period, as these two men, along with Brown and Vandermeer, earned themselves a very deserving spot on our “Frozen Fisticuffs Fight of the Night” for Thursday, February 23, 2012.
